Unveiling the (Draft) New Phase of the EEC Overall Development Plan (2028–2032): Aiming to Transform 3 Provinces into a Perfect Development Model
On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM, Assistant Professor Dr. Nalina Chaiya, Deputy Director of the Office of Academic Resources and Information Technology, accompanied by Computer Technical Officers Mr. Pitak Thanapakdee and Mr. Phongphan Suwantemee, participated in the formulation project for the Overall Development Plan for the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the Comprehensive Land Use Plan, the Infrastructure and Public Utilities Development Plan, and the Comprehensive One-Stop Public Service Plan 2028–2032.
The Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) is preparing to advance into its next phase of development with the unveiling of the new (draft) Overall Development Plan (2028–2032). Formulated to build upon the successes of Phase 2, its primary goal is to establish a framework for driving a modern, environmentally friendly economy to sustainably enhance Thailand's competitiveness on the global stage. This draft plan sets a challenging vision to propel the EEC into a "Perfect Spatial Development Model," serving not only as a significant milestone to attract investors but also aiming to holistically elevate the region across all dimensions.
The implementation of this draft plan will focus heavily on three key dimensions:
Economy and Investment: Aiming to build infrastructure that attracts new-era industries.
Society and Quality of Life: Emphasizing the preparation of citizens to efficiently cope with technological disruptions and natural disasters.
Livable City Development: Targeting the upgrade of the area into an international, safe, and easily accessible urban center while reducing disparities in access to public services.
To ensure this development materializes tangibly, the overall plan explicitly defines specific positionings for the three core provinces:
Chachoengsao Province: Targeted to grow as a smart city, distinguished by high-quality living and green industries.
Chonburi Province: Set to be elevated into a central hub for innovation, trade, logistics, and the international economy.
Rayong Province: Destined to serve as a crucial stronghold for modern industries, technology, and the green economy.
These strategic directions represent a significant step toward transforming the Eastern region. They will open up new opportunities for all sectors, including educational institutions, to collaboratively develop human resources and innovations to meet future demands. The event was held at the Suntara Wellness Resort & Hotel.
